"Courting Blue Herons"
by Michael Maiden

Dimensions of sculpture: L55"xW44"xH48"

Every male heron has his own dance of seduction. He is elegantly feathered for the occasion. He stretches and flounces his wings in a display of strength and passion. If the female succumbs to his romance, she'll accept his gift of a single twig and add it to a nest site he has chosen. Their courtship becomes a bond.

Michael works on the final details of the piece. He strives to capture every bit of detail from his reference photos in order to create a true likeness of blue herons engaged in the dance of courtship.

At this stage, the herons are complete and ready to be immortalized in bronze. Many hours went into their creation, and the results are exquisite.

Courting Blue Herons is available in classic patina. It can also be constructed with an optional water feature.

In the picture above, water flows elegantly under the base of the piece.
