Michael was commissioned by Arlington Virginia’s NEWSEUM to sculpt a one third scale replica of the 19 1/2’ high bronze statue entitled "Freedom" that stands atop the Capitol Dome in Washington, D.C. The 8’ sculpture was placed in the NEWSEUM's "Freedom Park," which is located at 1101 Wilson Blvd. in Arlington.

"Freedom Park" is home to several different icons of freedom that symbolize victory over oppression and remind us that the struggle for liberty continues around the world. Icons on display include a toppled statue of Lenin from the former Soviet Union, a bronze casting of the jail-cell door from Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 imprisonment in Birmingham, Ala., and replicas of the Goddess of Democracy from Tiananmen Square and the Freedom statue that stands atop the U.S. Capitol.
